Huffington Post cites Costa Rican coffee as one of world’s best


Costa Rican coffee is known by Ticos as their “golden bean” because of its high dividends to the local economy.
Costa Rican coffee appears in the list of the World's Best Cities for Coffee Lovers cited by the online newspaper The Huffington Post.

In no particular order, the online newspaper lists the top 11 cities where premium coffee can be found: Istanbul (Turkey), Paris (France), Tel Aviv (Israel), Kailua-Kona (Hawaii, United States), Seattle (United States), Melbourne (Australia), Havana (Cuba), Lisbon (Portugal), Santa María (Costa Rica), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) and Rome (Italy).

The article notes that Costa Ricans refer to coffee as their “golden bean” because it has paid such high dividends to the local economy. “Since the 18th century, this Central American enclave has cultivated the popular Arabica coffee bean, which is generally thought of as the crème-de-la-crème of the crop,”.

Regarding Santa María de Dota, “this small mountain town sits amid leafy coffee fields, and it might just be the most peaceful place to sip a local cafécito (black coffee).”
